Riva Launches New Baby Model Riva Iseo Super
In late January, at the Düsseldorf Boat Show, Riva unveiled the new Riva Iseo Super, an ultra-cool 27-foot dayboat that is a more affordable combustion-engine version of the all-electric Riva El-Iseo unveiled last year. Both boats were developed from the original Iseo, introduced in 2011, of which 80 have been produced to date.
From the outside, the Iseo Super is as attractive as you'd expect. It has a flared bow, smooth scissor lines and a delicately molded tumblehome stern, which is adorned with the usual dark glossy varnished mahogany detailing.
The cockpit layout is simple and intuitive. As with all of Riva's latest generation yachts, there are raised edges at the leading edge of the low, wrap-around windshield. The center aisle is flanked by a new Böning digital instrument panel and two bolsters with supports. At the rear is a newly designed U-shaped lounge area with a small square pedestal table that can be raised and lowered by switch control. The manual Bimini top is cleverly stowed under the rear bench.
In terms of power configuration, the El-Iseo's engine bay features a Parker electric motor, while the Iseo Super's engine bay is more common. A 300-hp Volvo Penta D4 diesel, coupled to a DP-I stern engine, is standard and can reach a top speed of around 38 knots. There is also a choice of two gasoline V8 engines, 305 hp and 355 hp, with the 355 hp engine boosting top speed to 41 knots.
Riva hasn't announced a price for the boat, but we understand that the new Iseo Super is far less expensive than the pricey electric El-Iseo, which is said to cost around €1 million, while the Iseo Super is less than half that.
