Edvin H Design Launches Superyachts Powered By Solar And Wave Energy

Edvin H Design has unveiled an 80-meter “eco-friendly” concept superyacht called Awakening, which is cleverly designed with solar panels hidden in a retractable awning and a wave-powered swim platform at the stern.

The green theme continues on the east deck, which features a semi-enclosed workspace and a tablet computer powered by “discreet solar panels”. The designers named the foredeck “Solar City”.

This secluded lounge area can be converted into a solar panel bank to power entertainment systems, including deck-mounted projectors and TV screens.

The main deck is designed for “food lovers” and the galley is also solar powered. The area will be finished in natural stone, stainless steel and glass-laminated copper. The top sun deck will feature a fully integrated wellness area with four solar-powered bathtubs, a central sauna and a Jacuzzi.

Adventurous owners often particularly favor the lower deck with its wide range of toys such as electric mountain bikes, single-person solar-powered dinghies and jet skis. Tenders can access the superyacht through side hatches, which are designed to maintain stability when docked. These hatches are also equipped with a retractable swim platform for easy return to the boat after swimming.

Recently, there has been a lot of attention paid to environmental awareness, including a Rossinavi yacht called 'Solsea'. The yacht will be able to cruise in all-electric mode on 80% of transatlantic voyages and will be equipped with a swimming pool cover that will provide both shade and a solar surface.
