Rev Ocean, the World's Largest Yacht, Expected to Be Outfitted by 2027
The world's largest yacht, REV Ocean, has sailed from the Norwegian shipyard VARD Søviknes to Damen Ship Repair in Vlissingen, the Netherlands, where she is due to begin a 15-18 month outfitting program for delivery in 2027. Superyacht Times' Nick Smitz captured her arrival.
At 194.9 meters long, REV Ocean's exterior was designed by Espen Øino International, with interiors by H2 Yacht Design of London and naval architecture by the VARD Group. The first renderings of the interior were unveiled last month, and when delivered, the yacht will enter the charter market with Burgess.
The 19,235-ton displacement yacht has 18 staterooms and can accommodate 34 scientists. Upon completion, 75% of the voyages will be devoted to scientific research, or 'science mode'. During the remaining 25% of the voyage in “Adventure Mode”, guests will be able to participate in customized science projects, contributing to marine conservation through fun and learning.
Highlights on board include the DSV Aurelia acrylic submersible capable of reaching great depths, the ROV Aurora remotely operated vehicle (ROV) designed to dive to a depth of 6,000 meters, an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) with two helipads, and a professionally equipped dive center.
The diving center is professionally equipped. In addition, there are recreational facilities such as an outdoor lounge, spa, paddle tennis courts and swimming pool. Upon delivery, REV Ocean's maiden voyage will take it through the Arctic, south along the Norwegian coastline and on to the Southern Ocean, with stops in the United States and South America.
