GX34 Yacht Is Officially in the GX Superyachts Solar Collection!
The construction of GX Superyachts adds another semi-custom series, the GX 34 yacht, for yacht buyers looking for a cleaner cruising solution. The yacht features cutting-edge hybrid propulsion technology in the powertrain and a hardtop design that gives buyers the option of installing up to 46 solar panels.
The GX Superyachts is Greenline Yachts' entry into the large hybrid and solar yacht segment, with construction taking place at SES Yachts in Turkey, as the Slovenian Greenline yard was unable to take on a project larger than 78 feet (24 meters). With Greenline's success with American clients over the past few years and the interest in GX Superyachts' larger products in the US market, the company has teamed up with Northrop & Johnson for sales throughout the Americas, which is one of the reasons why the GX34 yacht was on display at the Palm Beach International Boat Show last week.
The 111-foot (34-metre) GX34 shares the same commitment to lower emissions as its sister boat, the GX42, which is about 18 months from completion, with a 30 per cent reduction in emissions compared to a conventional all-diesel yacht of the same size. She is powered by two 200kW electric engines with twin diesel (approx. 1,425hp each) options (a limited number of diesel-only versions are also available), as well as an 800kWh battery pack to cope with hotel loads. Clients wishing to reduce their reliance on gensets can opt to install solar panels on the hardtop and superstructure, which, according to the builder, can generate up to 30 megawatt-hours of energy per year.
From a long-term perspective, the owner can run all hotel loads on electricity for up to 48 hours without recharging; the genset can be fast-charged in three hours with automatic start-up; and when the diesel engine is cruising alone, the electric motors can use their waste energy to recharge the battery packs.
When it comes to cruising, the diesel-electric propulsion system has a variety of modes that allow the yacht to reach a maximum speed of 16 knots depending on the diesel engine selected, a cruising speed of 12 knots, and a hybrid mode capable of travelling 10,000 nautical miles at 6 knots.
The GX34 is available in a wide range of styling and interior design options. For styling, there is a choice of Raised Pilot House (topside), Fly or Coupe by Marco Casali - Too Design, while the interior design is suggested by the studio and owners are welcome to work with a designer of their choice. The interior layout features five staterooms, with the master suite on the main deck and an expandable 50 square meter lower deck lounge. In addition, a pool can be added to the open-air beach area, the Raised Pilot House flybridge has options for a hot tub, bar and dining area, and the swim platform is capable of accommodating and lowering a nearly 15-foot connector boat.
